A new statewide news program called “Texas News Now” has launched to provide comprehensive coverage across the Lone Star State’s diverse communities. KHOU 11 CBS in Houston is among the stations participating in this expanded news initiative, which aims to connect stories from major metropolitan areas like Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio with smaller markets throughout Texas. The program seeks to bridge coverage gaps that have traditionally left rural and suburban communities underserved by mainstream media outlets. For Black Texans and other communities of color, this expansion could mean increased visibility for local issues, from voting rights and economic development to education and healthcare access that often go unreported in smaller markets.
